1Is KBS HQ really free?

Yes. KBS HQ is free for every K-12 school and district. Unlimited admin seats, unlimited technician seats, unlimited devices, branded parent portal, every report and integration. No subscription, no setup fee, no per-seat charge. We earn revenue when schools choose us for repairs or pair the software with one of our coverage programs, but the software stays free either way.

2How does KBS actually save my district money?

Parent-pay programs shift the cost of accidental damage off your operating budget entirely. Districts that pay see lower premiums than legacy warranty plans because we run our own repair lab. No middleman, no per-claim surcharges, no deductible games.

3We already have a warranty. Why add KBS?

Warranties cover manufacturer defects. They do not cover the cracked screen from the locker, the soda spill, or the mystery hinge break. That is 90% of what tech teams actually deal with. KBS covers the accidents.

4How fast is turnaround?

Four business days on average from device received to device shipped back. Parents and admins both see live repair status in the dashboard. No more chasing the repair shop on the phone.

5Do we have to send devices to you?

Not if you do not want to. Run it as SaaS only and your in-house techs handle repairs while KBS HQ tracks claims, devices, technicians, and parent communication. Or hand the whole repair workflow to us. Your call, your data.

6What does the admin dashboard actually do?

Roll-up reporting across schools, claim queue with one-click approve or deny, device fleet view, technician throughput, parent revenue tracking, and CSV exports for finance. If a board member asks where the money went, you have the answer in two clicks.

7How long does setup take?

Most schools are live in under a week. Upload your device roster, set your coverage tiers, hand parents a branded enrollment link. We handle the rest.

8Is student data secure?

Yes. Bank-grade encryption, role-based access, FERPA-aligned data handling. Admins control exactly what parents and technicians can see.

9What if a parent will not pay the deductible?

Your call. Some schools require it, some absorb it on a hardship basis. The dashboard tracks it either way so you always know where you stand.

10Can we cover district-issued devices and personal devices?

Yes. Many schools run both. District devices are billed at the school or district level. Personal devices are enrolled by parents through the same branded portal.

11How is coverage billed?

Per school year, not per calendar year. Schools are off in summer, so you should not pay for summer. We invoice once a year or per enrollment, your preference.
