The lowest premium is not always the lowest-cost program. Compare what happens after a screen cracks, a parent needs help, or a repaired device must get back to class.

Compare coverage scope, exclusions, claim limits, deductibles, repair ownership, turnaround, loaners, enrollment support, reporting, integrations, and total school-year cost. Score every vendor against the same written scenario.
Coverage scope
Ask each provider to mark covered, excluded, or optional for the same damage list.
- Cracked displays and touchscreen digitizers.
- Liquid damage, hinges, keyboards, ports, and cases.
- Parts, labor, shipping, and diagnostic fees.
- Loss, theft, batteries, chargers, and repeat incidents.
Claim rules and family experience
Confirm who may file, what evidence is required, how approvals work, whether there is a deductible, and how denied claims are explained. Test the form on a phone before signing.
Repair and turnaround
Identify who performs repairs, where devices ship, typical door-to-door time, parts quality, warranty on completed repairs, and what happens when a device cannot be repaired.
- Published turnaround target and actual recent performance.
- District repair lab option versus provider repair.
- Loaner responsibility and replacement authorization.
Program administration
Compare parent communication, enrollment pages, waiver handling, payment support, roster or MDM integrations, asset records, claim status, and exportable reports. Administrative time is part of program cost.
Pricing and contract checks
Calculate school-year cost, not just premium. Add deductibles, shipping, uncovered repairs, minimum participation, setup fees, renewal changes, cancellation rules, and internal labor.
Final scoring method
Weight scope at 30 percent, repair service at 25 percent, administration at 20 percent, family experience at 15 percent, and price at 10 percent. Adjust the weights to your district, but never let premium alone choose the program.
